Police Newsletter

In the hopes of increasing faculty and student awareness of campus crime, the Harvard University Police will start distributing today a weekly newsletter to all House Masters that lists crimes committed on campus, Saul Chafin, chief of University Police, said yesterday.

The newsletter also lists suspicious incidents and circumstances which made the crimes easier to commit, Chafin added.

The administration and the police hope that housemasters will include parts of the newsletter in their house bulletins, Thomas A. Dingman '67, assistant dean of the College, said yesterday, adding many of the thefts noted in this week's newsletter occurred in unlocked suites or in otherwise unattended areas.

"We can do a better job with crime prevention if people are more cognisant of the dangers," Dingman added.
