ABC News reported last night that President Carter is considering committing 100,000 troops, 18 ships and 6 squadrons of fighter planes to the Middle East to back up his declaration that the Persian Gulf is of vital interest to the U.S.
In addition all three networks speculate that in his State of the Union address today Carter will call for a U.S. boycott of the Moscow summer Olympics and for initiation of draft registration.
