Sick-Out Policy To Take Effect

Beginning this semester, grade transcripts will mark any grade entered late because of make-up examinations or paper extensions with an asterisk and an explanatory note.

Faculty legislation passed last spring ordered the new policy, which officials said they hope will reduce the number of students who "sick-out" of exams.

A notice issued in all registration packets stated the policy became effective July 1, 1979.

John R. Marquand, assistant dean of the Faculty, said yesterday this date applies to the date permission for the make-up exam was granted, not the date the exam is taken.

Students taking make-up exams in October will not be covered by the rule, and their grades will appear unmarked, Marquand added.
