Navy Sweeps

Navy put added pressure on the Harvard baseball team by sweeping Yale in a make-up doubleheader at New Haven yesterday, 9-1, 6-3. The sweep left Navy with a final Eastern League record of 10-4, which means that Harvard (7-4) must win its three road games this week to force a playoff.

Paul Kelleher pitched his second complete game in four days as he scattered five hits against the exam-weary Elis in the first game. Yale knocked out Navy ace Steve Walton by scoring three runs in the first inning of the second game, but Midshipman Jim McMurty pitched 6 2/3 innings of shutout relief to give Navy the 6-3 victory and the twinbill sweep.

Harvard travels to Cornell Friday and Army for a doubleheader Saturday. Army, the only other team in contention at 7-4, plays Dartmouth Friday.
