The Tufts women's squash team was easy prey for the stalking Harvard racquetwomen yesterday, as the Crimson devoured the Jumbos, 7-0, in Medford.
The racquetwomen punished the unfortunate Tufts squad, sweeping all seven matches without the loss of a single game.
In fact, fifth-slotted Courtney Stimpson, sixth-ranked Jenny Stone and number seven Ellie Cunningham all held their opponents to under 15 points total over the course of their three-game victories.
Freshmen Lisa Harrison and Jackie Corrigan, in the number three and four spots respectively, each registered their initial varsity triumph with smooth 3-0 shutouts.
The racquetwomen's top two players, Becky Tung and Margo McGlade, completed the whitewashing. Tung coasted to a 15-12, 15-9, 15-4 win, while McGlade polished off her adversary 15-6, 15-9, 15-12.
"The Tufts team is not very challenging--so we tried to work on our mental attitude and concentrate on never letting up," Tung said after the match.
Tung and McGlade will travel to New Jersey this weekend for the Princeton Invitational, an elite tourney with a 16-man draw--essentially comprised of the top college competitors in the country. The rest of the squad will face Wesleyan Saturday.
In additional matches yesterday that did not count toward the final score, Libby Pierpont and Wendy Sonnabend easily dispensed with their Jumbo foes.
