The undefeated Harvard freshman squash team started their 1979 schedule in high gear yesterday, crushing a visiting Williams nine, 8-1, for their fourth straight win.

The Crimson's newly-elected captain Charles "Chas Outrageous" Duffy spearheaded the attack. Playing at number one, the five-year Milton Academy stand-out ousted Ephman Tad Chase in three straight games.

Harvard's only loss came at the number two position, where Steve Bakalar dropped a five game marathon battle to Phil Adams by the painfully-close score of 17-18, 15-16, 15-2, 15-9, 16-17.

"Adams made no errors and I think that frustrated Steve," first-year coach Mark Panarese said following the match. "When Steve should have been willing to play the long points, he went for winners and hit alot of tins," he added.

Bakalar's defeat didn't affect the play of number three man Fraser Black, who set the pace for the remainder of the match by blitzing Williams racquetman Al Guerra, 3-0. The Seattle native surrendered only five points en route to the win, leaving Panarese to exclaim "that's not a victory, it's cruel and unusual punishment."

Harvard dominated the remaining six matches, sweeping through the lower ranks of the Williams ladder without dropping a game. The Crimson hope for similar results when they travel to Tabor Academy on Saturday.
