Harvard's women's ice hockey team broke open a scoreless game for their first intercollegiate win of the season yesterday afternoon when they scored three third-period goals and blanked Boston University, 3-0.

The contest remained scoreless until freshman winger Lauren Norton tallied two goals, less than a minute apart, midway through the third stanza. Linemate Tania Huber added the final score later in the period.

For Huber, the score marked her seventh goal in as many games, while the victory pushed the team's first season record to 2-5. Earlier in the season, the squad defeated an amateur team from Nashua, N.H.

Coach Joe Bertagna, former Crimson netminder and current assistant sports information director, said after the victory, "They've worked pretty hard all year and have had to face schools that have fielded teams for years. They deserved the victory."

The win comes as more good news for the team that learned recently that the athletic department will upgrade the status of women's ice hockey from "club sport" to Level II varsity next year.

The team concludes its regular season next Sunday when it will host Ithaca College at Watson Rink at 9 a.m.
