Yale laced a pair of third-period goals to strap the Harvard women's hockey team with a 2-1 loss last night in New Haven.
"It was a major improvement from 17-0," coach Joe Bertagna said in reference to his squad's first-game drubbing at the hands of Providence. Harvard outshot the Eli women 14-11 in the contest and dominated first-period action.
After two scoreless periods, Yale forward Beverly Doric blasted a 20-ft. slapshot past senior Nelia Worsley's glove side at 3:27. Eli Lynn Cruishank added a power-play goal at 10:18, making it 2-0.
Alice Hill scored Harvard's first goal of the season at 12:33, jamming in a loose puck from in front of the net. Sophomore Lauren Norton got the assist.
Worsley, playing only her second game as netminder, "did a tremendous job," Bertagna said.
