House Tacklers Fight it Out Leverett, Kirkland Victorious

Leverett defeated Eliot 7-6 and Kirkland crushed Lowell 24-6 in the first House football games for these teams yesterday.

Leverett led 7-0 in the first half when player-coach Bill Lewis scored on a short dive, with former J.V. gridder Tony Rothschild kicking the extra point.

In the second half, Eliot's Brian McAndrews caught a 50-yard reverse pass from Paul McNichol at the two yard line and John Raming scored on a quarterback sneak. Eliot missed the extra point, leaving the score final at 7-6.

Scoring by Kirkland players Jamie Egasti, Casey Fitts, Brian Gilfeather and Ed Tompkins along with strong defensive support gave K-House an easy victory over Lowell.

"Jamie was probably the key player," teammate Fitts said. Egasti scored twice, both on a 40-yard catch and on a reverse play, with only seconds left in the game.
