After City Councilor Walter J. Sullivan adjourned the balloting, the council attempted to consider an amendment to prevent landlords from evicting tenants from apartments they wish to convert to condominiums.

Over 100 Cambridge citizens filled the council chambers waiting for the verdict, but some confusion as to whether or not the council was officially in session forced them to return home without a decision.

Graham, however, was finally able to pass a resolution permitting members of the Alliance of Cambridge Tenants and the Committee for the Elderly to speak out for the bill and against condominium conversion.

Several landlords voiced their objections to the bill which was defeated last June.

Before the council adjourned, it decided to adopt rules next week for recessing and conducting official meetings.
