Student Display

The Freshman Council recently opened a display case for student artwork in the yellow dining room of the Freshman Union.

"We'll accept any form of artwork, photos, poetry, paintings, just anything not three-dimensional," Sheila Bonde, secretary of the Union, said yesterday. Bonde said the case can be used by anyone, but is primarily for freshmen.

The first display contains 24 photographs by Steven M. Brand '81 who received a 1975 Kodak International Award for one of the pictures. The photographs capture scenes of nature and people.

Brand said he considers photography a serious hobby. "I enjoy it but it's hard to make a living doing just photography," he added.

Brand's display will remain in the case until someone else requests to use it, Bonde said. He added, "A limit will be imposed if there is a demand." Anyone wishing to post a display or ask questions should call or leave a note in the Union secretary's office, she said.
