Sailors Mix Results In Weekend Meets

The Harvard and Radcliffe sailing teams split tacks over the weekend, with the men following the wind for a victory in New Haven as the women ran into rough seas closer to home.

Terry Neff led the Crimson men to victory in the Shaw Trophy regatta down at Yale on Saturday, taking individual honors as low-point skipper in the ten-team field. The victory qualifies the squadron for a spot in the New England regional championships.

But coach Michael Horn didn't enjoy a perfect weekend. The Radcliffe sailors, who had been looking forward to a strong season, floundered to a pair of fifth-place finishes in local waters. The women finished far behind MIT at both Saturday's Regis Bowl meet at Wellesley and the President's Trophy regatta at B.U. on Sunday. The only bright spot for the Crimson was the performance of newcomer Kit Tilly, who won her first collegiate meet in the affair at B.U.
