Big Red Invades Watson To Battle Crimson

There can be no time to savor the well-deserved victory over Boston College for the members of the Crimson hockey team. Even as Boston Garden employees scrape away the last traces of Monday night's ice, Harvard will be tested once again--tonight versus Cornell.

The Big Red are presently ranked third in the East while sporting an 11-5-0 record. A win at Watson Rink is a must for the Crimson because, to secure a place in the top eight, at least one victory over Cornell is probably necessary. And Harvard has found the pucking tough on Ithaca ice.

The key to the contest will undoubtedly be defense. Another performance like that exhibited against the Eagles will be needed to push sixth-ranked Harvard higher in the standings.

The tendency to look past Cornell to the Beanpot finals next Monday night is certainly a real threat, but one that should be avoided in light of the strength of Cornell's squad.

The Crimson cannot afford to live in the past, nor look to the future too soon. ECAC DIVISION 1 STANDINGS [through Monday's games] 1. Clarkson  W-L-T 2. New Hampshire  13-2-0 3. Cornell  15-3-0 4. Boston University  11-5-0 5. Boston University  10-5-1 6. Harvard  11-6-1
