After transmitter problems kept Harvard radio station WHRB off the air for almost two weeks, the station was able to resume broadcasting at 6 p.m. last Thursday, the station's FM chief said yesterday.
Robert Landry '79 said the transmitter had been malfunctioning since the beginning of the semester and by September 18 the station was forced to halt all programming.
The station has had similar problems in the past, particularly at the beginning of the school year, Susan Crock '78, president of WHRB, said yesterday.
Slow Starter
"It always takes a while for the transmitter to get going after the summer," Crock added.
WHRB was able to stay on the air long enought to broadcast the Harvard-UMass football game on September 24, but shut down immediately afterwards for five more days of repairs, Landry said.
Last year, WHRB acquired a site in Medford for a new transmitter, but Landry said the station does not expect to begin broadcasting from there for at least a year.
Crock said she did not anticipate a recurrence of the problem, and added that it was "no big deal."
