Two Ivy League teams were among the eight named yesterday to the NCAA tournament by James Adams, lacrosse coach at Penn and chairman of the NCAA's lacrosse committee.
Cornell finished undefeated and was ranked first in the national poll. The Big Red, however, was seeded second behind undefeated defending champion Maryland.
Brown, runner-up in the Ivies after losing to Cornell on Saturday, 10-7, was seeded eighth.
The first-round contests will be played on Wednesday. Maryland will play host to Brown, and fourth-seeded Navy will entertain North Carolina. The Terps and the Midshipmen have appeared in the tournament every year since it was started in 1971.
In other games, Cornell will be home against Washington and Lee, while Johns Hopkins will meet UMass in Baltimore.
