ERG Poll

The Educational Resources Group (ERG) will survey students Monday on changing the academic calendar.

ERG feels a significant number of students believe the current academic calendar status should be studied, Paul Wang '77, an ERG member, said yesterday.

ECG's poll will ask approximately 250 students to evaluate the present calendar and a proposed '76-'77 calendar. The proposed calendar is a radical change from the schedule shifting dates forward three weeks.

"For ERG to recommend an academic calendar, it is important for us to know how students feel about the issue," Wang said.

Under the alternative calendar, registration would occur before Labor Day and final exams before Christmas vacation. Christmas vacation would run longer and the second semester finals would begin May 17.

"The survey doesn't mean that there are only two choices. In our opinion, they cover all aspects of different calendars; the advantages and disadvantages of each," said Wang. "We hope to get conclusive evidence to have something to base recommendations on."

ERG will make recommendations to the Faculty Council upon completion and assessment of the survey.
