Cagers Suffer Another Ivy Disaster...

The Ivy landscape reeled before the Crimson cagers for the second time in as many days, as the Cornell five landed an 85-69 win Saturday night at Ithaca.

Harvard's 6ft. 9in. big man Britan Banks scored just two points, shooting only 1-11 from the floor. He was completely outployed by Big Red center Stan Brown, who bagged 31 points on 13 field goals.

'Ineffective'

"The frontline was not effective in terms of point production and in terms of rebounding," Coach Satch Sanders said. Brown and Cornell workhorses Bernard Vaughan and Maynard Brown tugged 43 rebounds off the backboards while the Crimson yanked down a middling 33.

Cornell legged it to a 16-2 lead with 13:53 in the half, while the Crimson was wading up and down the floor mired in an offensive attack that committed 24 turnovers on the night.

The Crimson only exhibited spasmatic signs of life throughout the game, as Cornell maintained a death grip on its 14-point margin.

With just over six minutes left in the half, a 52 per cent shooting mark from the field had propelled the Red out to a 32-14 lead. With the half approaching, the cagers wriggled within 9.

The half closed at 41-29, as Cornell gave the hoopsters little scoring slack to work with.

Bill Carey went on a scoring fling, piling up a 64-40 spread with ten minutes remaining. The Red scored 17 points to Harvard's one during the spree.

Glenn Fine, who scored 17 points against Columbia, once again excelled with 13.

The cagers tip off with Penn and a 15th ranked Princeton quintet next Friday and Saturday.

Fine, who leads the league in assists and hails from Philadelphia, said, "I really don't want to be embarrassed like we were this weekend in front of my hometown."
