City Council

News Shorts

First-term City Councilor David Clem introduced two resolutions at Monday night's City Council meeting that would make rent control and eviction control in Cambridge a permanent local option.

The resolutions, which have the support of five councilors, will probably be sent to the state legislature before the Massachusetts rent control enabling act runs out April 1.

Little other business was conducted in a meeting hampered by the absence of two councilors and the lack of a mayor. Balloting for mayor was postponed until next week's meeting.
