Fall Lineup

In Progress

At the first meeting of the Faculty Council this year several issues that will probably be discussed in the future were brought up. Among them were:

* Responsibility for grading--particularly to what extent a course can depart from traditionally accepted grading practices, as in the case of Natural Sciences 36, "Biological Determinism," which guarantees every student enrolled a B provided, of course, they actually attend the class;

* The question of calendar changes, energy costs, space and classroom assignments in saving the Faculty money--Dean Rosovsky said at the meeting he hopes further economies are made in the Faculty budget but not through cutbacks in educational programs. The council did not discuss any specific calendar changes;

* Re-evaluation of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences--particularly its size and financial support; and,

* The new admissions program for the Colleges.
