David L. Gorski seemed to assume his office as Harvard's police chief in January with one overriding objective: mobilizing the police and the community to take crime seriously and meet its threat aggressively.
Gorski, in fact, did meet at least one challenge in a way that some critics say ex-Chief Robert Tonis would not have, commanding the police who sealed off Mass Hall in response to the DuBois Institute Student Coalition's occupation of the building in May.
