Yardling Nine Drubs Quincy

The freshman baseball squad, behind the pitching of Jamie Werely, trounced Quincy Junior College yesterday, 13-0, on Soldiers Field.

Werely worked five of the seven innings, allowing only one Quincy hit while striking out ten. And while he was mowing down an average of two an inning, the Crimson bats lashed out 11 hits, exploding for six runs in the fourth inning and coasting the rest of the way. Harvard had three runs in the fifth and two each in the sixth and seventh innings.

Coach Tim Bilodeau substituted freely, allowing just about everyone a chance to bat. The big men on offense, however, were Corbett Saunders, who was three-for-four with one RBI, and Dave Miller, who was two-for-three with three RBIs.

The freshmen finish the season Saturday against Tufts here.
