Bok also said yesterday that the unpopularity of the Radicliffe Houses is due not to a difference in quality from the River Houses but to "visibility"--that freshmen just aren't as familiar with the Radcliffe dormitories.
Bok said that assigning freshmen to Houses before they get here is one alternative to the present system, but he also proposed another "drastic" solution: Housing all freshmen at the Quad.
The University might compensate these students for the denial of experience of being freshmen in the Yard by improving the freshman seminar program and related opportunities he said.
