The Harvard J.V. and freshman hockey squads completed fine seasons with 5-1 and 6-5 wins over Yale in New Haven last Saturday.

The freshman faced "one of the best freshman teams Yale's had in years," coach Tim Taylor said. The game was fairly even throughout.

The first two periods ended in a 3-3 tie. Captain Barney Cook, John Keely and Andy Spaulding all scored for Harvard.

Charley Peterson scored two power-play goals to open the third period. A turning point in the game came when Yale's goaltender received a ten--minute misconduct penalty for protesting a tripping call against him. Yale was forced to insert their second-string goaltender. Harvard's Bill Nolan scored what proved to be a winning goal on the new goaltender.

Harvard goaltender Roberto Fernandez made 32 saves while collecting the win.

In the J.V. game, Yale scored first. Gordy Skannell tied the score, and the first period ended in a 1-1 tie. The second period was scoreless.

In the third period, the Crimson exploded for four goals. Bill Hozack had two goals and Alby Giondeminico and Gordy Skannell each scored once. John Harris, Rick Mosely, and Mike Barry all played a period in the nets for the J.V.

The J.V. has compiled an impressive 14-3-2 record this year.

Taylor described the freshman team as one of the most disciplined he has coached. The fresh suffered a couple of bad losses earlier when discipline broke down earlier this year. However, the team showed continued improvement as the season continued.

The Yale win gave the freshmen a record of 12 wins and five losses.
