The Ivy League's eight basketball coaches have selected Lou Silver for the 1974-75 All-Ivy second team. The Crimson failed to place anyone on the first team but junior forward Bill Carey and senior guard Mike Griffin received honorable mention.

The Ivy-champion Penn heads the first squad with two selections. Quaker Ron Haigler was named to the team for the third consecutive year and teammate John Beecroft was selected for his second consecutive year. Haigler was further honored as the Ivy League Basketball Player of the Year.

Explosive Guard

Rounding out the first team are Princeton's explosive guard. Armond Hill, and a pair of Browns at forward--Maynard of Cornell and Phil of Brown.

For Silver, the award caps a betterswest season. The big man showed signs of brilliance at times, but was ineffective at other times.

Against a strong Oral Roberts quintet, Silver was devastating, canning 38 points and ripping off 19 rebounds. But later in the season in a decisive weekend against Penn and Princeton. Silver could only manage 6 points and 5 rebounds in a Harvard double dip that dropped the Crimson from Ivy contention.

Silver finished fifth in Ivy rebounding with a 9.1 average. The Bruins' Brown led the category and Haigler finished second. Haigler topped the league in scoring with a 22.2 average, finishing in the top five in both field-goal and free-throw percentage.

Griffin received honorable mention for his direction of the Harvard attack in the second half of the season. He averaged 4.3 assists per game, good for fourth in the Ivies. Carey also had a strong second half as he surged to finish as the Crimson's most accurate shooter from the field.
