A television series on the Middle East, edited by two Harvard professors, may be shown in Israel, Egypt and Jordan, a producer for the sponsoring station said Friday.

Rogber D. Fisher '43, professor of Law on leave this year, and Nadav Safran, professor of Government, edited "Arabs and Israelis," an eight-part series designed to "allow the media to magnify the moderate voices in the Middle East conflict," Linda Cutler, WGBH project supervisor, said Friday.

The series, produced by an Israeli television director and an Egyptian journalist, has aired weekly since February 5, appearing on 253 stations of the Public Broadcasting System throughout the United States.

Peter McGee, executive producer of WGBH, said Friday that Israel. Egypt and Jordan have expressed interest in showing the series and "It is fairly likely" it will be asked in Israel.

Release in the two Arab countries is "only possible," he said.

The production cost of the series was $500,000.

Sylvia A. Davis, WGBH promotion manager, said Friday the series is designed to express the "perceptions of the people" because moderate voices "don't usually make news."

Culter said it is an effort to present a view "other than the sensationalist one seen in the six o'clock news."
