With Sandy's Jazz Revival closed until its management decides what direction to take, the jazz scene looks pretty limited.
The Jazz Workshop has Betty Carter with the Stafford James Trio playing two shows nightly at 9 and 11 p.m.
Paul's Mall is booking Impressions through this weekend, with a special added attraction, Al Jarreau.
The last time Jarreau came in he was advertised as a throw-in for a Gato Barbieri concert, but he ended up stealing the show from the Argentinian saxophonist.
Jarreau's voice is tremendous and his music is even better.
There will be shows beginning at 9 and 11:30 p.m. through Sunday night.
