Hauser for High Court

Rita E. Hauser, a 1956 graduate of the Law School, is one of several women President Ford is considering to succeed Justice William O. Douglas on the Supreme Court, The New York Times reported yesterday.

Hauser, a well-known New York lawyer, has served as a member of the United States' delegation to the United Nations and as a close advisor to President Nixon.

Other women under consideration are Carla A. Hills, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development; Shirley M. Hufstedler, a Los Angeles appeals court judge; and Soia Mentschicoff, dean of the University of Miami Law School.

A White House spokesman refused to comment yesterday on the nominations.
