Biochemistry Dept. Resolves Conflict Over Chem 20a

The Biochemistry Department has been able to circumvent problems involving the scheduling of Biochemistry 10, "Introductory Biochemistry and Molecular Biology," by special arrangements with students, an instructor in the course said yesterday.

The difficulties involve Chemistry 20a, "Organic Chemistry," which is listed as a prerequisite for the introductory Biochemistry course, but which is only offered in the same term.

David Dressler, associate professor of Biochemistry, explained that the department allows students to take both classes at the same time, finishing in one half semester when it might, according to the catalog of courses, take them one and half terms to complete.

The problems arose when the Chemistry Department decided not to offer Chemistry 20a in the spring term as well as the fall term this year.
