Persona and Pierrot Le Fou are being cofeatured at the Brattle starting tomorrow; both are wonderful, though sometimes brutal, works, highly recommended for the artsy crowd. Persona, directed by Ingmar Bergman and staring Liv Ullmann and Bibi Andersson, is a complex psychological drama that's somewhat of a modern classic. Pierrot Le Fou, directed by Godard and starring Belmondo, is another heady film about psychic anguish, and as always, Belmondo is a joy to watch.

Borsalino is Belmondo's best film, and it's coming to the Harvard Sq. Theatre tomorrow. A neatly done and very humorous look at the underworld--the best entertainment around. It's playing with The Hostages, having its American premier here, a taut thriller about a kidnapping in Paris. Starring Bulle Ogier, of La Salamandre fame.

A Streetcar Named Desire and Last Tango in Paris have been making the rounds together in the last few months, and they're coming to the Welles as part of the Brando retrospective. What can you say? See them.

Wedding in Blood, a fine Chabrol film about crimes of passion with brilliant performances from Michel Piccoli and Stephane Audran, is moving to Central Sq. along with Bergman's The Touch. Lucia is staying at the Welles, but not for too much longer, so catch it while you can.

Special Showings: Buster Keaton's The Navigator is playing for free at sundown tonight at the MFA. Gutman Library is showing Terry-Thomas's hysterical Make Mine Mink Thursday night at 8 for $1.
