The Peace Seekers. Boston reporter Paul Reece spent 17 days in Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Israel. In this documentary he explores the future of peace in the Middle East, interviewing major government figures, workers, soldiers and former Bostonians who now live in these troubled lands. Mass. Reaction. Reece and his photographer, Richard Suskin, join moderator Ted O'Brien to discuss "The Peace Seekers" with the studio audience. Audience reactions to T.V. reporting is important, but you never see much of it. And this one is not taped or edited--it's live. Ch. 7, 8:00 p.m. 1 hour.

Impeachment of Andrew Johnson. A dramatization of the only impeachment of a president in U.S. history based on actual House and Senate transcripts, newspaper accounts and history textbooks. Johnson was acquitted two months after the trial began back in 1868, but the mechanisms for impeachment are still with us. Maybe this time the outcome will be different. Ch. 2, 8:00 p.m. 1 hour.

TUESDAY

A Summer Without Boys. Well, there are two different accounts of this movie made for TV. One says it's about a middle-aged woman suffering through the final moments of her marriage and the other says that it's about a boy involved in a mother-daughter summer romance during the war years. Put those two accounts together and add the fact that there's absolutely nothing else worth seeing Tuesday night and you've got one low-budget movie to watch if you're suffering through an unbearable existential cirsis or you just don't have anything better to do. Ch. 5, 8:30 p.m. 1 1/2 hours.

WEDNESDAY

Behind the Lines. "Watergate and the Press" is the topic of this repeat first shown in October, 1973. The program discusses the contrast between the media's reluctance to cover the story when it first broke in June, 1972 and the vast coverage since. Includes interviews with Pulitzer Prize winning reporters Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward. Ch. 44, 8:00 p.m. 1 hour.

Lord of the Universe. As you can see, the title to this program provides one answer to that ever-puzzling question, "Who is Guru Maharaj Ji?" This documentary profiles the mysterious mystic and his religious organization, the Divine Light Mission. See if it tells you that the guru's organization also sells office supplies and stereo equipment, or that an example of his humor, according to his older brother, is when "the prankster with a vision" rolled up the electric windows in his Rolls Royce on his brother's head. Ch. 2, 9:00 p.m. 1 hour.

THURSDAY

Applause. In 1970 Lauren Bacall won a Tony for her lead role in this Broadway musical based on the Oscar-winning film, "All About Eve." Bacall repeats her performance for this television adaptation along with another veteran from the Broadway show, Penny Fuller. Bacall plays Margo Channing, a seasoned theater star and Fuller is Eve Harrington, the conniving novice out to win everything Margo has worked so hard to attain, including her fiance and her fame. Probably the best show this week. Ch. 7, 9:00 p.m. 2 hours.
