John T. Dunlop, director of the Cost of Living Council and former dean of the Faculty, Patricia Roberts Harris, former dean of the Howard Law School, and Barbara Newell, president of Wellesley College, are among the people who will receive honorary degrees at tomorrow's Commencement, sources said yesterday.
The sources also said that Albert H. Nickerson '33, a member of the Corporation, and noted playwright Lillian Hellman are both "very strong candidates" for the coveted awards.
"It's a good year for jurists," one Mass Hall source said. The source listed Paul A. Freund, Loeb University Professor, and Supreme Court Justices Thurgood G. Marshall, Stewart and Byron R. White as the most likely contenders.
The same Mass Hall source said "don't be surprised if an Ivy League college administrator gets an honorary." John G. Kemeny, president of Dartmouth College, was appointed to his present post at the same time as 1973 LL.D. winner William G. Bowen, president of Princeton.
