MUSIC

The Fisk organ at Mem Church isn't perfect for Franck, but the player will make up for it. John Ferris begins a May series of recitals with an all-Franck program.

Steve Hefling has a varied selection for his Grad Chorale: Purcell, Brahms, and Yannatos. If you don't see him conduct then, be sure to go to the Lowell House 1812 Overture extravaganza on Sunday. Cast of thousands, chorus, orchestra, guns (courtesy of the Chief), and bells. The only place in the western hemisphere for an authentic performance of the piece (the only set of Russian bells, so I'm told). Rehearsal, 2:00 (strings needed, always); performance, 3 p.m.

Bach Society winds up its season with Ronan Lefkowitz as violin soloist in the Mendelssohn concerto. The right idea: student soloists with student orchestras. Kenneth Hoffman
