archy and mehitabel, an adaptation of don marquis's story of a cat and a cockroach who couldn't depress the shift lock, officially opened on sunday. unofficially it's been running for about a year, of course, but it's always nice to do things right. sort of like henry aaron hitting it in atlanta. weekends, 2:30 p.m., theater two at 196 broadway, along with Changes (Brecht and two contemporary one-actors) in the evenings.
An Evening of British Comedy involves excerpts, presumably, from Beyond the Fringe, Monty Python (and his Flying Circus), Flanders's & Swann's At the Drop of a Hat, and the Goon Shows of which I admit I've never heard. The others are all funny. Tomorrow and Saturday, 8 and 10 p.m. in the Dunster House JCR.
Noel Coward's Hay Fever is probably also funny. Opens tonight at 8 in the Kirkland House JCR; this weekend and next.
Cole Porter's Kiss Me Kate, contrariwise, is generally reputed to be one of the all-time greats. Josh Rubins, the director, collaborated on a successful show of his own last year. Opens tonight at 8 at the Loeb; this weekend and next.
Seth Reimer's Lovers Not is an original play; Reimer's directed Shakespeare and Beckett at the Ex, I think. Opens tonight at 7:30 at the Loeb Ex; this weekend only.
