Dean Rosovsky apparently made a minor goof last week when he said the University has been thinking of lowering room temperatures to 65 degrees this winter, down from last year's 68.
It seems there is a state housing law that prohibits landlords from maintaining residences for rental at temperatures below 68, although the temperature can legally go down to 65 at night.
Stephen S.J. Hall, vice president for administration, and Richard G. Leahy, associate dean of the Faculty for resources and planning, both said this week that they are well aware of the law and never considered lowering room temperatures below 68 this winter.
