To the Editors of The Crimson:

Has no one raised his voice to save Hunt Hall? Its quiet aesthetics may indeed be out of place between the pretentiousness of Memorial Church and the audacity of the new Science Center, but to demolish it for space reeks of short-sighted expediency.

A 200-student dorm will have several entryways; need they all be physically attached? From Robinson Hall to Holworthy, from Robinson to Emerson, there must be enough room to fit 200 students and save Hunt Hall, perhaps incorporating it as a Freshman center, a function the Union has failed to serve despite its new paint job. Hunt could house practice rooms, a center for women in the Yard, a lounge, a grill...

Save Hunt Hall, if only as an architectural landmark in "Historic Harvard Yard." The University's megalithic building policy has left little space for the style and grace of a Hunt Hall. If the space is absolutely necessary, might I suggest building on the present site of Sever, University Hall, Holden Chapel, the President's House, or, to be facetious, Gund Hall? Daniel Kerlinsky
