The Crimson golf team continued its barnstorm through the East yesterday, putting down Brown and Boston College for its eighth straight triumph.

The match was held at a country club overlooking the ocean in Providence, R.I., and the linksmen had to battle high offshore winds on the long, unfamiliar course.

Harvard's Quinn Smith led all linksmen with a score of 73, and teammate Skip Berry posted the only other sub-80 score, shooting a sharp 79.

Spectacular

Steve McConnell, Harvard's number one man, called Smith's 73 round spectacular. "Quinn really played super today," he said. "He was the best man out there by a long shot."

Smith and Berry combined their scores with McConnell's 80, Bill Salatich's 82, and Tom Yellin's 84 to give Harvard the winning total of 398. Boston College edged out Brown for second place, scoring 418 to Brown's 421.

The victory gave the linksmen a perfect 4-0 record in Ivy play, and with only three matches left, McConnell said the team is confidently looking ahead to the Ivy championship. The Crimson sports a 8-2 overall record, losing only to Navy and Penn State in the first match of the season.

The linksmen will play again tomorrow at Holy Cross, and then proceed to the Eastern Intercollegiate Championship this Saturday.

"We've matured a lot in the past few weeks, and all our top golfers are in top form," McConnell said. "We hope to do real well in the meets tomorrow and Saturday."
