Brown Chosen in NBA Draft As Atlantic Hawks' 4th Pick

Senior forward James Brown was chosen yesterday by the Atlanta Hawks in the fourth round of the National Basketball Association player draft.

"I'm very pleased that I was drafted so high by the Hawks," the 6' 6" Washington, D.C., native said. "I'd love to play basketball in Atlanta. I'm really excited about it. Now I've got to start working toward getting my game together so I'll be ready for training camp."

The second-highest scorer and rebounder in Harvard basketball history, Brown scored 1242 points and ripped off 747 rebounds, despite the fact that he played guard for one year. He averaged 14.6 points and 10.4 rebounds per game last season.

The 14-12 record last year marked the first time a Crimson team has compiled three consecutive winning seasons in over 50 years.

Forward Floyd Lewis also may be picked today during the last six rounds of the NBA draft. "I talked to some scouts and I understand that Floyd is among the first few players to be chosen tomorrow," Brown said yesterday.
