Letter to the Sports Editor:

To the Sports Editor ofThe Crimson:

I simply wanted to congratulate The Crimson for its accurate reporting of Dan Steiner's lies about the internal dissension among Box Jox.

I voluntarily withdrew from the game for three reasons:

First, I did not come to Harvard to play basketball, but to receive an education. I had an opportunity on Saturday to receive one from Dean Dunlop, and I took advantage of that unusual opportunity.

Second, I believe the First Amendment is in serious jeopardy and I would not want to do anything to jeopardize the physical or moral capacity of The Crimson to resist Administrative pressures.

Third, the bullhorn authoritarianism and semi-tough sophomoric qualities of Dan Steiner as surrogate coach (representing the inhuman and brutal attitudes of Dave "the Animal" Davis) are too much for a man who cries when an undergraduate receives a C-. I especially resented the scornful rejection of my request to be used only as "the designated shooter" because that role has been reserved for President Bok. Hale Champion
