Radcliffe swimmers stroked their way to an easy 59-44 victory over the Newton College team at a dual meet Saturday.
In the 200-yard medley relay Julie Bradley, Connie Cervilla, RoAnn Costin and Nancy Sato turned in one of their best times of the year, at 2:07. They also swam unofficially in the 200-yard freestyle relay, sweeping in a record 1:50.2 victory.
Newton won both breast stroke events, but junior Tania Oster pulled in a very close second each time.
Radcliffe tallied up more points from individual wins. Senior Julie Bradley claimed victory in the 100-yard individual medley and sophomore Kris Krendl triumphed in the 50-yard butterfly.
Nancy Sato swept the diving competition with a 201.75 point total in her best performance of the year. Junior La Verne Sargeant ranked a solid second in the one-meter event.
"This wasn't a difficult meet for us," coach Alice McCabe said. "We knew we could win it beforehand. It gave us an opportunity to use a lot of people who hadn't had much of a chance to compete so far this year."
Because of the revised academic schedule, the next 'Cliffe meet will not take place until February 9.
