The undefeated Harvard J.V. cross country team faces its stiffest challenge of the season today in the Columbia Invitational Championships to be held at New York City's Van Cortland Park.
The Crimson will be facing perennial power Pennsylvania for the first time this year, and will need superlative performances from Jim Hughes, Bill Mueller George Farrelly, and freshman Brian Dunn if it is to challenge the Quakers.
The J.V.'s chances, however, could be crippled before the race even begins. If several key members of the varsity, currently plagued by illness, do not recover sufficiently to run in the Heptagonals, Crimson coach Bill McCurdy will have to move the top J.V. harriers up to the varsity.
Such a move would undoubtedly force the J.V.s to readjust their strategy and run for a second place finish.
