SDS REPRESSION

The Mail

To the Editors of The Crimson:

The Harvard-Radcliffe SDS has advocated that Roy Innis withdraw and that William Shockley be "disinvited" from the Law School forum on race, I.Q. differences, and genetics tentatively scheduled for Oct. 26 (see Travis Dungan story of Oct. 16). SDS bases its argument on the fact that William Shockley's overtly racist (and, agreeably, totally disgusting) views directly contradict SDS' way of thinking. However, nobody has the right to silence free expression--especially when those views which are expressed can be publicly debated. Therefore, in the interest of free speech, William Shockley must be allowed to speak.
