The Harvard freshmen hockey team glided past a weak Northeastern J.V. yesterday afternoon, 12-6 to put its season record over 500 for the first time since Christmas.

Five minutes into the second period Coach Tim Taylor's freshmen broke a 2-2 tie and went ahead to stay as Daniel Bolduc flipped a short shot into the Huskies net. Kevin Burke had an assist on the play, which began a Crimson scoring surge that put the game on ice for Harvard.

The Crimson ran up a 6-2 lead before Northeastern got a shot past Yardling goalie Dennis O'Donnel, but the Crimson added another two points to its score before the period ended, on Wiz Wyatt's cheap shot and another by Paul Haley.

After a sluggish first period the Crimson's offense moved smoothly. Although it missed the shot on the power play a number of times, the passing was sharp and the forwards waited for their shot. With the Huskies down a man for eight of the 20 minutes in the period, they had plenty of opportunities.

After hitting 2 of 18 shots in the first period, the frosh showed down, and made 6 for 15 and 4 for 15 in the last two. Northeastern went from good to bad and, after making two of eight in the first period, and to 1 of 18 and 3 of 11 in the last periods.

But the Harvard defense sagged, and goalie O'Donnel let four goals by while he was leading the net. The Yardlings also had some trouble clearing the pack from their end of the ice.

In the 12-6 romp, Taylor got almost all of his team on the ice, and must of the offence second. No one had a hat trick, but Burke. Wyett and Haley each scored two goals. Don Bolduc, Kevin Care, Jimmy Aiken, Allen Peacock, Walter Herbert and Phelps Swilt also scored in the afternoon.
