Bill Hughes has stopped throwing baseballs for Brandeis. In fact, he's even stopped tossing meatballs at Tommy's.

Hughes was the Judges' starting pitcher last year against Harvard, but this year he's stopped the throwin' in Waltham, and the tossin on Mt. Auburn St. and ventured out on a new career-turnin platters for WBUR, the Brandeis University radio station.

With Hughes loss to the Crimson last season, the Judges are now seeking their second victory in the 18-year series. Former Braintree High School coach Tom O'Connell, in his first year at Brandeis is pinning his upset hopes on the right arm of Mike Fahey.

Fahey is 2-0 this season including 1-0 shutouts of both Boston College and Babson. "His forte is his control," O'Connell assessed. "He mixes 'em up and throws a good assortment of stuff. I suppose his curve is the best."

The judges are 5-2 this season and come into the game on the heels of a 6-5 victory over Tufts.

Harvard coach Loyal Park will start Sandy Weissent, who is 2-0 this year. The Crimson will be out for its 17th win against two losses.

On Saturday, Dartmouth held onto a four run lead in the final inning to edge the rallying Crimson, 4-3 in the second game of the doubleheader.

"I was really delighted at the way the kids came back," coach Loyal Park said. "Now I know this may sound corny but that's just how I feel. They could've given up and gone home but they made Dartmouth scramble-heck, one more little hit and we could've won."

The Crimson currently are tied with Brown for first place in the Eastern Baseball League with 3-1 marks.
