Squash Team Moves Ahead In Quest for National Title

Harvard's squash team, the only remaining undefeated collegiate squad, took a 2-0 lead against Princeton yesterday afternoon as Peter Briggs and Dave Fish won at one and two. Briggs and Fish are competing in the University Club of New York tournament today while the remainder of the Crimson ladder hosts the Tigers at 2 p.m. on the Hemenway courts.

Harvard is now the sole leader in the race for the national crown after Navy upset Penn, 6-3, Wednesday on the Middies' courts. Since the Crimson topped Navy, 6-3, in December, it is now mathematically possible for Harvard to lose to Penn later this month but win the team championship because of less individual points dropped.

"Even if the national title isn't on the line, every squash player who has ever met Penn wants to win that match," senior Alan Quasha said.

The Crimson must turn its attention today, however, to the Tigers. Princeton is traditionally one of the top teams in the East, but this year the Tigers are hampered with injuries.
