Three Gridders Named to All-Ivy Team

Three Harvard football players won positions on the Associated Press All-Ivy eleven yesterday, but champion Dartmouth took top honors as six members of the Big Green gained spots on the team.

Senior halfback Ted DeMars, the only Crimson offensive player to make the first team, joins classmate Mike McHugh, who took one of the defensive end positions.

Defensive back Dave St. Pierre, who has one more year to play for Harvard, completed the Harvard trio.

Honorable Mentions

Crimson gridders on the honorable mention list were right end John Hagerty and split and Jeff Bone, as well as tackle Mike O'Hare and middle guard Sandy Tennant.

Quarterback Steve Stetson and running back Rick Klupchak highlight Dartmouth's six-player contingent on the All-Ivy first team. Guard Bob Norton, center Bob Funk, defensive end Tom Csatari and linebacker Doug Jaeger also made it onto the first team.

Perhaps the best known player making the grid team is halfback Dick Jauron of Yale. Jauron, the first Eli to crack the 1000-yard barrier, gained 1055 in the Elis' nine-game season. He won the Harry Agganis Award as the top football player in New England.

The first team's line consists of eight end Mike Telep of Columbia, the only sophomore on the team, and split end Don Clune of Penn at the flanks. In the pit with the Big Green's Funk and Norton stand guards Bill Brown of Princeton and Terry Smith of Columbia. Joe Italiano of Penn is the other tackle.

The Ivy defensive line features ends Csatari and McHugh, tackles Carl Barisich of Princeton and Bob Leyen of Yale. Mike Phillips of Cornell takes the middle guard spot. Linebackers are Jaeger, Bob Lally of Cornell, and Max McKenzie of Columbia.

Ted Gregory of the Lions, the Crimson's Pierre, and Tom Welsh of Penn fill the defensive back shots.
