Crimson Hoopsters to Face Yale, Pitt, UConn and Duke over Holiday Break

Crimson hoopsters will hit the road for four crucial Christmas-break games that could re-establish Harvard as a legitimate Ivy contender.

The Harvard five will play UConn and Yale at Storrs, Conn. in a hastily-improvised affair called the Connecticut Classic on December 22 and 23. A week later, they will visit Pittsburgh, Pa, and Durham, N.C. for back-to-back games against Pitt and Duke.

A solid UConn team should give Harvard a tough game, but Yale shouldn't threaten their four-game losing streak with the Crimson. John L. Powers '70, assistant director of Sports information, said yesterday. "We could conceivably win both games. In fact, we probably should, On paper we are the best team in the tourney."

Underdog

At Pitt and Duke, on the other hand, Harvard will be decidedly the underdog. Duke's Blue Devil have only lost 15 home games in the last ten years.

For sharp-shooting Jim Fitzsimmons this game will have extra-significance. He will be playing against his former teammates from a 16-0 freshman squad he led in scoring.
