Poll of Freshmen Says 70 Per Cent Support McGovern

Preliminary results of a poll being taken at Harvard this month show that about 70 per cent of the freshman class plans to vote for Sen. George McGovern for President.

Members of the Harvard-Radcliffe Students for the Re-Election of the President have questioned some 275 freshmen living in the Yard about their presidential preferences. William B. Schuck 74, chairman of the group, said yesterday. The preliminary results indicate that the class is more conservative than previous classes, he added.

"Every year we get a more and more moderate group," he said. Upperclassmen also have been polled, but results have not yet been tabulated.

Schuck and co-chairman William E. Glass 75 founded the Nixon organization last spring. The organization now claims a membership of about 20.
