Fighting reading period doldrums, Harvard's varsity wrestling squad performed well in every bout and easily beat MIT, 35-11 last night at the Engineer's gym.

The Crimson ran up an early 18-0 lead and never was in danger of losing. The squad breaks for exams with a 7-3-1 record.

Highlight of the match was the strong performance of the heavyweights, Dave Scanlon and Angelo Mareno. After disappointing efforts at Navy last weekend, Scanlon and Mareno looked strong, taking two pins for the Crimson.

Harvard's three starting lightweights also won easily. Dan Blakinger overcame Tom Hanley's strategy for a draw and won going away, 6-1. Josh Henson and Jerry Kahrilas each had little difficulty pinning their challengers. Henson had 17 points on his foe for the final takedown. Substitute Zack Gildstein also contributed to the quick lead with a 4-1 decision at 126.

Harvard's only difficulty came at positions weakened by illness. Boris Holmes was sidelined by the flu, and Jerry Hall, literally called out of the dorms, lost a good match at 150, 3-5. Frank Morgan, also hampered by a flu bug, still succeeded with a 4-2 decision.

The closest matches of the night came at 167 and 177. In the first bout, Bruce Johnson tied MIT's captain Bill Kutnetz, but the Engineers' Sam Mitchell picked up six points when he pinned John Kiel with seconds remaining in the match.
