Dining Halls Offer Soybean Omelettes

Would you pass up that tender, delicious sirloin (see picture at right) for a soybean ham omelette?

That choice has been offered since January 3 when the Food Services instituted an experimental program of serving vegetarian alternatives to the main course in several dining halls.

The program originated in response to requests from students interested in meatless diets, Kay S. Lacoss, staff dietician for the Food Services, said last night.

"We aren't serving the soybean dishes with every meal, and when they are on the menu, not very many students appear to be taking them," a dining hall staff member at the Freshman Union said yesterday.
