Second Place Ivy Finish Probable

The Harvard hockey team plays hapless Yale tonight at Ingalls Rink in New Haven, with a victory virtually assuring the Crimson of a second-place Ivy finish.

Brown, with a 9-2 record in League competition, faces tough Cornell at Ithaca tonight. Should Harvard, whose Ivy record is 8-3, win and Brown lose,

both teams would wind up the Ivy season tied behind Cornell.

Harvard, which has already beaten the Elis twice this year, should have little trouble winning, even though the team will be looking forward to the first game of the ECAC playoffs Tuesday night.

Referring to his team's attitude, coach Cooney Weiland said, "Of course we're looking forward to that ECAC business, but it's never tough to get up for Yale in any sport."

In last week's Yale game, which Harvard won 11-4, no fewer than seven Crimson players got three or more points with captain Joe Cavanagh and sophomore Dave Hynes each picking up five.

With the difficult ECAC playoffs coming up, this will probably be the last chance for goalie Bruce Durno to break the Crison record for shutouts in a single season. He is currently tied for the mark, having five shutouts this year.

There are also three Ivy League season records which are within the range of Dan DeMichele and Cavanagh. Cavanagh, who has already broken League marks for career assists and points, needs two assists and five points to tie single season marks. DeMichele is just two goals away from the Ivy single season goal record.
